General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Wilbur-Ellis Nutrition Facilities are primarily involved in the mixing, processing, and transferring animal feed, pet food, and cattle feed ingredients.

The primary role of the Plant Operator-Lead is to assist in all aspects of plant production, quality control, maintenance, and facility cleanliness. Candidates are well-driven self-starters who can work with a close-knit team to meet the customer's demands efficiently.


Key Skills and Abilities Include:

Must be at least 18 years of age
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required
Willingness to operate material handling equipment, including forklift, telehandler, and other equipment, as required
Ability to lift packages to 50 lb. (or 110 lb. with a partner).
Good math and organizational skills
Able to follow written and verbal directions and complete the necessary documentation. The ability to read and write English is required
Willing to work overtime hours as needed

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

Lead production for the team
Organize work of the lines for daily production based on the Plant Manager's direction.
Set up line according to production scheduled production job
Ensure employees follow basic company policies and procedures and report instances of non-compliance to supervisors
Second in command when the production supervisor is not present on the production floor
Report any unsafe behavior by team members to the supervisor
Learn and train on all roles required at the plant (mixing, bagging, forklift, and container loading)
Warehousing, including receiving, shipping, and organizing
Able to work and contribute to a team approach with a positive attitude and outlook
Fully knowledgeable in respective areas of work
Able to operate equipment independently in respective areas of work
Work directly with Plant Operator Leads to guarantee the production, safety, and quality goals of each shift to fulfill company and customer needs
Maintain accurate barn maps and inventory counts.
Proper loading of maritime containers with heavy equipment
Ensuring the quality and weight specifications of the product are met as requested by customers
Weigh empty and loaded containers and provide loading sheets to our dispatch team to close the invoicing process for customers. (EC Mill / Ametza)
Operators require excellent Hunterwood FC10000 press and forklift skills
Responsible for maintaining and reporting maintenance problems appropriately to the mechanic team. Train in the operation of the Press and guarantee the production output and goals.
Fully trained and safety certified in heavy equipment operation (Hay Squeeze, Loader, Truck, Container Handler).
Guarantee the proper operation and reporting of mechanical failures to our rolling Stock Mechanic while ensuring safety for pedestrians, operators, equipment, and facilities.
Learn and become competent in all roles required at the plant (mixing, bagging, pressing, wrapping, forklift operation, front-end loader operation, container loading, truck driving, etc.)
Operate and maintain processing equipment as outlined in SOP’s
Maintain facility cleanliness throughout all operations
Perform Quality Control while handling products
Accurately document tasks performed (processing, maintenance, cleaning, etc.)
Warehousing, including receiving, shipping, and organizing
Follow all safety, regulatory, and administrative policies and procedures
Able to work and contribute to a team approach with a positive attitude and outlook
Perform any other duties assigned by management professionally and efficiently

Compensation and Benefits:

In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $26.25 - $35.00 per hour.  Note that wages may vary based on location, skills, and experience.  This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
